Evaluation of tomato germplasm for resistance to geminiviruses in Sanarate, GT: September 2003

Luis Mejia, Universidad de San Carlos, Project leader

Example of cherry type line with moderate resistance.

Cherry type fruit about 20 g, and DSI ca. 2.5 on an F1 plant. Also, there were similar fruits on a few F2 plants and one was selected.  The "wild" local tomato, L. esculentum var. cerasiforme  gives an F1 with cherry type tomatoes when crossed with a resistant line, such as GF1 (100 g fruit).
