Evaluation of tomato germplasm for resistance to geminiviruses in Sanarate, GT: September 2003

Luis Mejia, Universidad de San Carlos, Project leader

Symptoms of Gray Leaf Spot were evident on lines with lineages to TY198 and TY197.

Plants with severe symptoms and without symptoms were selected for use in our Marker Assisted Selection research.  The resistance gene has been mapped (MPMI 4:489-492) to chromosome 11  (between T10 and TG110) and located towards the centromere from the introgression in chromosome 11 associated with the L. hirsutum-resistance to ToLCV reported by Hanson et al., 2000 (J. Amer. Soc. Hort. Sci. 125:15-20, between TG36 and TG393).
