Evaluation of tomato germplasm for resistance to geminiviruses in Sanarate, GT: September 2003

Luis Mejia, Universidad de San Carlos, Project leader

Commercial cultivar, Marina, with severe symptoms:

Disease severity index = 3.5 (100% incidence), this commercial field was about 400 meters from our experimental plots and was a total loss.  The grower had abandoned this field before harvest. One of the problems was that this field was established adjacent to a mature tomato field, which most likely had a virus incidence of nearly 100%.  Whiteflies moved from the older field to this new planting.
