GS16 breeding line

Breeding line, GS16, was selected from Fla 658-2BK line from J. Scott, University of Florida, with introgressions from L. chilense ( see J. Amer. Soc. Hort. Sci. 126:462-467).  This is the highest yielding breeding line with outstanding resistance to geminiviruses.  DSI's are 1-15.  The average yield per plant in September 2002 was 2.3 kg for GS16, and 0.14 kg/plant for GC6, a susceptible line from HC7880.  Marina, commercial cultivar, was 0.14 kg/plant.

30 days after transplanting:  No symptoms.

70 days after transplanting.  Fruits are round and over 150 g.
