GF13 Breeding Line
GF13 on the right and a susceptible line (GC6) selected from the Cuban open pollinated cultivar, HC7880 on the left. Plants are about 97 days after transplant. 100% of the plants of GC6 showed symptoms about 26 days after transplanting and many plants were dead by now. For the GF13 line, there are extremely mild geminiviral symptoms. Note that fruits are about 150 g and round with moderate firmness. Of the GF lines tested in previous field tests, this was the highest yielding GF line.
All the plants of two commercial hybrids, Elios and Marina, were infected by 26 days after transplanting and by mid-March most of the Marina plants were dead.
