Khadija El Mehrach is a Ph. D. student at Ibnou Zohr University of Agadir. She has shown that there are two monopartite begomoviruses present in this area of Morocco: Tomato yellow leaf curl virus and Tomato yellow leaf curl Sardinia virus. She has also developed a two-step PCR method to detect the Mi gene in germplasm with the L. hirsutum resistance to begomoviruses.
